Limelight Quest does not use judges. The selection method happens via an audience vote. It can be argued that this makes the contest a simple popularity contest, but we believe that with thwatermusice implementation of our points system a more favourable spread occurs. As follows:

  • Each audience member will not only vote for their 1st favourite pick, but also their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place choices.
  • Points are applied to each place, i.e. 1st = 4 points, 2nd = 3 pts, 3rd = 2 pts, 4th = 1 pt
  • The points are tallied from all placements each contestant’s name is listed

Our theory is that the audience members who came to vote for their family member, friend, or coworker may choose those for 1st place, but then their next three choices will be for those they felt really Rocked it on the stage. Because it is a consensus of many, in tallying up the points, we found the very best inevitably receive the top scoring points. Meaning that, regardless of whether one performer has a larger fan base in the audience than others, the points gained from the remaining audience members balances the odds.

Of course, by practice, most competitions of this kind have to be tied to popularity in some way or another, but we also want the performers that reveal the best performance, as well as the best talent to shine.

Limelight Quest will remain a judge-free system, because we truly believe the audience members do not need to be swayed by the opinion of a judge. They do enough of that while discussing amongst themselves. We feel our system works! Take a look at our past winners and we are positive you will agree… They Rock!!!
